NMSU Philharmonic
The New Mexico State University Philharmonic Orchestra is a vibrant orchestra made up of NMSU students of all majors. The orchestra provides multiple performance opportunities each semester, exploring repertoire ranging from the Baroque to the Modern era for both string and full orchestra. NMSU Philharmonic regularly collaborates with soloists, faculty, other organizations such as Camerata del Sol, and within the NMSU Department of Music for larger-scale productions with NMSU Choirs, Bands, Lyric Theatre, and others.
The NMSU Philharmonic Orchestra is designed to provide students with the opportunity to explore orchestral repertoire that is technically and musically demanding. Students gain knowledge and experience in orchestral performance through rehearsals, sectionals, and concerts, supported by a high level of preparation and instruction.
Students are encouraged to join to continue the joy of making music and become part of a community that fosters growth, collaboration, and learning.
Enrollment is open to all NMSU students, regardless of major, who own or have regular access to an orchestral instrument and demonstrate proficiency in major and minor scales. Admission is by audition.
