La Catrina String Quartet - 3rd Latin Grammy Nomination

The New Mexico State University resident ensemble La Catrina String Quartet has been nominated again for a Latin Grammy for Best Classical Contemporary Composition.

The nominated work is the "String Quartet No. 3 (In memoriam Ludwig Van Beethoven)" by composer and producer Yalil Guerra. The work is included on the ensemble’s last album “Alma con Brio.”

Members of the quartet are Jorge Martinez-Rios on the viola, Simon Gollo and Daniel Vega-Albela on violins, and Jorge Espinoza on the cello. They all are associate and assistant professors at NMSU and they oversee the rapidly growing string area.

The Latin Grammy awards ceremony will take place at the MGM Las Vegas on Nov. 15.
