The New Mexico State University Department of Music is excited to host NMSU alum Andy Moran (Bachelor of Music Education, 2001), Mary Moran, and William White in an evening of chamber music for horn, viola, and piano. The performance will feature a performance of “Trio for Viola, Horn, and Piano” composed for Andy and Mary Moran by William White. Additional works by Lili Boulanger, Rudolph Mayer, and William White will be performed.
Andy Moran currently serves as the Artist/Teacher of Horn and Director of Orchestras at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. He is the principal horn of the Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra and wasinvited to perform at the International Horn Society’s 50th Anniversary conference in Muncie, Indiana. Before moving to Wisconsin, Moran was the music director of the El Paso Symphony Youth Orchestra program and resident conductor of the El Paso Symphony Orchestra from 2009-2016.
Mary Moran is currently the principal violist of the Central Wisconsin Symphony and the viola instructor at the Aber Suzuki Center at UW-Stevens Point. Mary Moran performed as a member of the El Paso Symphony Orchestra and Las Cruces Symphony Orchestra for seven years before moving to Wisconsin. She holds degrees from the University of Oklahoma and Southern Methodist University.
Recently appointed the music director of Orchestra Seattle and the Seattle Chamber Singers, William White is an accomplished and versatile musician. From 2011-2015 White served as the assistant conductor of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and music director of the Cincinnati Symphony Youth Orchestra. Mr. White maintains a significant career as a composer of music for the concert stage, theater, cinema, church, radio, and film. His music has been performed throughout North America as well as in Asia and Europe. His output includes a symphony, an oratorio, chamber music of all varieties, and several works intended for young audiences. His music has been recorded on the MSR Classics and Cedille Record labels.
